Long story short my tank crashed, I found my nero pump controller sitting in my sump (photos below). I immediately did an icp test find results below. I’ve been doing several waterchanges and running carbon between the crash to now. As per my icp test is it safe to assume the metal in the tank...
I've now had a second ICP returned indicating low sodium and hence low PSU, latest 29.30PSU!
Last ICP was 30.70, which ended up scrabbling with multiple refractometers and calibration fuilds making me happy my tank was at 35ppt.
Mg and K are at the low end, but Ca is normal. These are were I...
So at Aquashella Orlando I picked up a Reef-Labs icp test. They were BOGO. I just got back the results and I just feel like the tank I’m looking at should be way worse, my tank looks great by the way. Also, how does lead end up in my tank. We are in a 5 year old home with pvc plumbing and have...
I have a 400 gal system so I don't realistically try to manage minor and trace elements by doing 20% weekly water changes. I manage them with a 10% monthly slow drip water change, dosing procedures involving Tropic Marin's K/A/C products, ICP testing, and manual adjustments. I've been using...
Ohhhhhhh boy people. Okay so need some help I did my first ever ICP test. And I almost wish I hadn’t. Apparently there’s allllll sorts of metals in there and and I’m confused about iodine and some other things. If any one’s willing and understands any of this stuff please feel free to look over...
[updated Jan 24, 2022]
I did a thing! I was reading over on another thread earlier today after searching for info on how much of something to dose after receiving a recent ICP-Analysis test. The issue was, my ICP Analysis tells me how much I need to dose to get to the target levels, but the...
Is ICP testing really nessesary? Would love to hear the thoughts you have on this.
In my humble opinion ICP testing is a piece of the puzzle I which we are able these days to keep so many different types of corals and often in the same tank.
The older hobbyists maybe know that back in the...
Please help identify why my mag levels are rising (from my testing) I suspect faulty salifert kit, but would welcome other ideas.
The issue I'm seeing is increasing Mag levels, in the last few weeks my mag has been increasing, until mid July was hovering between 1300-1450 ppm (I'm using...
Hi!
I got ICP test results a few days ago which indicated high levels of tin (Sn = 25) and Aluminum (Al=82) (pic below)
What could the reason(s) for the fore mentioned elevated level of Tin and Aluminium?
There some things which I suspect caused these elevated levels, please let me know what...
I have been having issues with my reef tank, no new corals are surviving and all past corals have since died. I had posted another post explaining all my reef issues over the past year and someone suggested I do this test to see if theres anything that stands out that could be killing my corals…...
I know I ALWAYS have a little ‘test anxiety’ when performing my water tests every week (alk every other day). I always hope everything turns out well and it usually does. Problem is, when it doesn’t (or I have missed a few weeks of testing), it can sometimes bring on a little panic as the...
For the last several weeks, my Hanna checker has shown my tank to have roughly 500ppm calcium. I was alarmed by this because I don't dose calcium and have no idea where the extra calcium could come from. I decided to test my water mix (Instant Ocean at 1.024 specific gravity) with an ICP and...
Hey guys over the past 6 months I’ve lost 70% of my SPS from what I assumed was a huge OD on Vibrant. I’m still losing pieces today. I just received my ICP test for the RODI water I use and it indicated .5 ppb copper. So copper poising symptoms match my issue and I’m wondering if that amount is...
Fluval 13.5 nano tank
Up and running for 279 days at time of my ATI ICP tests.
RODI Sample was perfect (everything at ZERO)
Using Reef Crystals.
Silicone/Silicates are high.
I've used a light coating of molykote on the westside of the MP10 powerhead and I'm assuming its not water...
So I’ve been having trouble with sps having STN after about a week or two. I just received my test relays back and would love to see what people think would cause this. My alk, calc, mg are all super stable and alk fluctuates 8.7-8.5 daily.
just got my test results in for the ICP. Need your help identifying what is out of whack in my tank so I can get it fixed.
Looks like I should dose some trace elements?
Aluminum at 41.26?
dealing with STN for a while on Acro, so would be great to nail it down
thanks!

I´ve been questioning myself a lot lately: do we really need to replenish all those traces? Do we really need to keep our water as close as we can to sea water?
Long ago there were lots of thriving tanks while nobody even knew or talked about trace elements, many were R2R amazing featured...
Took right at 2 weeks, but finally got my ATI ICP test results back and I was very surprised.

First of all, I'd like to say, I really wish these values were able to be switched between the metric vs imperial system because it's hard to gauge how accurate my tests have been in...
i ended up adding a piece of my bubblegum digi to my tank last week as well as my sunfire grafted cap, and they started to bleach within a couple of days. I also started to notice my acros losing tissue on their tips within a couple of days after that. I immediately tested everything and my...
I performed my first ICP test on my 200 liter aquarium which I send attached.
I don't understand the high calcium value, but I have already started making water changes to lower the value.
Regarding aluminum, I don't know what to do. Some help?
On the remaining parameters, apparently I will have...
I received some ICP results that said my phosphorus might be limited. I do not run GFO and I feel like my refugium has been struggling slightly also recently. My nitrates have been steady between 4-6 ppm, but it seems like phosphorus could be a limiting factor. Should I start dosing Phosphorus...
What an ICP-OES machine CANNOT test
As the company that developed the method for sea water analysis and making broadband testing available to aquarists, we at TRITON often get asked what an ICP-OES machine CAN test. These days it is getting more and more confusing with the proliferation of...
For what its worth, I thought I'd share a comparison of my test kit result vs those given back to me by Triton.
Notes:
- I took my sample test kits within 1 hour of the same time I collected my water that was sent into Triton.
- I shipped out my Triton sample on 1/14/2020 and received...
