Curious what salt you are using?
I used ESV. But recently switched back to Redsea pro.

Sorry for the losses, every tank is different but, imo, low nutrients suck, corals need those nutrients as well, don't strip them too quickly! ;)
No doubt that low nutrient suck! What I aim for is heavy import and heavy export at the same time.

Bummer about the losses but it definitely sounds like you've got things under control or at least getting there man :) Looking forward to watching the system come back over the next 6 months :D
Huhm, hopefully. Ever since this system set up, I have had so many incidents. Troubles after troubles!!!

I have a cup that I collect waste water whenever I test, I clean the vials and dump the waste water into that cup. The other day, when I opened the cabinet to clean up the sump, my son sneaked behind me and dumped the whole cup into my sump. So if you ever wonder if test reagents (hanna phosphorus, elos nitrate, hanna alk, hanna cal) kills corals, come back here after a week for update.
Here he is, little trouble maker! Can't get angry with him through!

For the good news, I am setting up another system. The tanks is propaganda tank 8ft x3ft with 12" high so side view isn't optimal. Most of the scape will be viewed from top down.
What I have to start with:

Rock structures were made with mostly zipties and putty. They can't be too tall because the tank only 12" tall.

@Mr V I love your aquascapes! Are you still using stone fix from Aquaforest? And are your zip ties structural or just until cement/epoxy sets?

On the 100 gallons but not on this one. I found out that it's very easy to hole the rocks together using zipties! The putty was put in to fill the gap and make them stop moving.
Really nice rockwork! I've always wanted to try a super shallow tank, best of luck with it!
Thank you! I found out that with shallow tank, flow become very hard. I can't find the best place for powerheads without some areas having too much direct flow.
And front view is finda ugly since every structures have similar height.

@Mr V Out of curiosity, why did you decide to stop using the ESV salt?
It become expensive now I have too many systems. Plus I don't (or haven't) see any negative of Red Sea.

Looks pretty great!

I seen the picture in the background and thought what a nice family picture and your son is just relaxing in his arms. I zoom in and see it’s actually a dog in cloths sitting there relaxing, haha.

really a beautiful realization. can I ask you two questions?
1) why didn't you set up a slot to put the fans to cool the neon lights?
2) what ballast did you use? and where did you put them?

1. If you notice on the back ground, I have a fan that blow into the display which help cooling those light also. FYI, Those retrofit t5s don't need cooling fan.
2. The whole kit from BRS, you can find them on their website. I really like it, the ballast last very long for me. I hide them on the radion racks.

if you didn't have the fan on the back, would it have been necessary to put fans for t5?

So after two big water change (60 gallons), a lot of carbon and 8'x4' sheet of poly filter everything seem coming back to normal state. There are a few casualties. A few still super brown but I hope they will make it.
ICP came back normal except for Li is higher than recommended. I don't know what effect higher Li has on corals so just leave it there!

There are still a couple colonies that are brown but I don't want to photograph them. It makes me sad.
Here is an example of my beautiful Doomsday. On the brown parts, the skin is still there so I hope it will make a miracle come back.

Hey Mrv,

Do you have any recent photo of this beauty? This by far the most amazing milli I have seen. Am intrested to see what it turned to :)

In the spirit of holiday season...Mr V 212 Mille. The polyps are crazy you can't even see the coraline.

There is the one on my 100 gallons system. Not the same colony on previous picture. It's never as hairy as the other colony.
