Filled the tank and sump today and leak tested the plumbing. I have two little leaks that will be easy to fix. I’ll get to it tomorrow. This is the first ghost overflow and gate valve I’ve had on a reef tank. OMG I love both and the tank is dead silent. Both Vectra M1s are at 50% and are silent also.

Hooked up the MP10s in the sump. Used the fuge side to add salt to balance out the tank. Checked the ammonia and it’s was at zero. I added enough ammonia to raise it to 2ppm and will monitor it.

I found out the tank and sump hold around 155 gallons total. Tank holds around 115-120g.

Just a lot of little things and programming to do now. 9B17E64B-E26B-4785-8D9F-46AA50875E95.jpeg 36C16CD2-4BD7-4EC4-914F-3ADE56DA21BA.jpeg

Now it’s time for the little details. The battery back up came with a tank I bought a while back. It had been sitting for a while
Before I bought the tank and figured it was dead. Either way it had to be opened up to install a voltage meter. Really a poor design not to have a meter on a back up battery. Even if you test yours regularly you don’t know the charge on the battery. Most will not know it’s mot working until they need it.

I drilled out the rivits and stuck the charger and meter on there to see if it will keep a charge. If not I will order one off Amazon for $35 and be back up and running. I use small screws to put the box back together. I just do not use a screw next to the power wires inside the box. 5DD2B418-B021-4C8D-9324-4EA12ACD9F6F.jpeg 5CD279CC-8348-4392-AE95-940A0ABC180D.jpeg 4708E3A2-974B-44D4-A6C4-0F026E947F0E.jpeg 46022B1B-745D-4EB0-9CB2-929A9EECE7D7.jpeg 0BD0CD49-14F8-4DC0-A9DF-0158FBE1578B.jpeg

All done for now. Just a waiting game.

The back up battery held a charge. So put it back together, mounted it and added the volt meter. Picked up a new usb cable and got the FFM running. Set up the ATK and tested it. Working fine! I set up the leak detection and the flow meter also.

The flow meter: I have two Vectra M1s running the tank. Both are at 1/2 speed and I’m getting 660gph from them.

The tank makes no noise at all! Love it, never had a silent tank. The Modular Marine over flow is dead silent. Having the lids on the sump keeps that quiet. Even with both return pumps on its quiet.

Hooked the MP10s, MP40s and Vectras up to the reef link. May move them to the WXM after the transfer. Had some skimmer issues but fixed with programming. Think that’s it! Are you going to keep both tanks now or just the peninsula and move everything over to it?

Planning on moving everything from the DSA over and selling it. The market here is bad err people are cheap including myself lol.

Planning on selling for $999.99.
105g DSA, stand with acrylic catch tray, Trigger sump, hard plumbed, Jebao DCT8000, and light rack with T5s.

Prob sell the rock/sand, ATO and whatever’s left separately.

Interested? o_O 0B55ABB5-E760-4217-A659-C2E517E0C0FD.jpeg 72199D72-712A-4723-8E7C-9B86B7C3C7FF.jpeg 80C1FB5C-D140-4F48-BB6E-80D7CF46F992.jpeg 17EC22AC-5092-42DF-BEC0-2E0BB55E1A05.jpeg 9CD4568B-D2A8-4395-87FF-7FCE06104C24.jpeg A6E89A05-210A-4AE1-8FF3-0766D3EC0D4E.jpeg

This build looks great! You lucked out with the awesome dimensions on the tank, and I love how organized all of the wires/filtration/plumbing are. What are your plans for stocking fish and corals with all of the extra space?

I have some tangs, trigger and eel that have outgrown their current home. They will get moved over as well as 20 anemones. Other than that I’m not sure yet. I spent too much time planing the wires/filtration and plumbing. Lol

Some rock from the other tank will fill this tank in a little more but I really want a lot of swim channels for the tangs. I’ll probably sell off half the nems and start planning the inside once I see what I have to work with.

Your attention to detail is meticulous! This has been inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Where did you get the rails and hardware for the lighting? I want to do a hybrid also but don't want to hang it.

It’s 8020 and I ordered it off 8020.net. I love working with it and make exactly what I want/need. Plus all the wires are hidden in the channels.

Quick update. I added 5 Lyretails and they loved the tank. I caught the yellow tang first, then the Trigger and Blue Tang. They seem to love the swim room and MP40 “swim jet”

I added the Apex Display and IPad. Also, some LEDs over the sump to light it up when I’m working down there.

All my chem readings are zero and I still have 12 little fish to trap and mov me over.
Then break the tank down to get the Snowflake out. Still need to add some PVC so he has a home.

I’m running out of plugs. Going to have to add a old EB8 inside the equipment box. Not much more to add at this time...

I now have all but 4 small fish and the eel in the tank. Tomorrow I’ll pull all the rock out to get the rest. My son and I removed 16 anemones today and have 4/5 more to move over tomorrow. So far all is well with the tank. MP40s are off while the nems settle in.

I moved the Kessil 360s and the moon lights over as well as the Kessil sump light. I’m running out of plugs and will need to add one on of my old EB8s to the system.

My buddy Elvis came came over and made me a screen top for the tank. I love his 3D printed screen corners. Makes for a clean install.

Think that is all for now... 74111482-237D-472A-BC5D-C21489BD55FA.jpeg AF5241CF-DE66-4870-8C4E-BC4945CE887D.jpeg FA410D3F-91B7-4997-A144-77B686BF84E3.jpeg 8A53D20A-7D49-412F-9FD8-8281CB87B31D.jpeg 2003A875-C027-46D8-B97D-5310CCAC8970.jpeg

And the drama continues...I woke up last night and went and laid on the couch around 3 am. Around 4:14am I hear some weird noise that wake me up again. I had left a 2x4 by my old tank equipment box and there was something moving it making it hit the wall.

I went over expecting to see 8 cockroaches building a log cabin out of it but there was my 2 foot snowflake eel squirming around on the floor and he started to head towards the 2” gap behind the tank where I would never get him. I grabbed a towel and was able to get the last 5” of him. He coiled me like a snake as I got the lid off the new tank.

Threw him in there and went back to bed. Wake up and check the new tank for him. Can’t find him anywhere. Was it all a dream!?! Then I see him sticking out of his new found home. Good he’s still alive.

I did not secure the old tank lid last night, removed the moon lights from that tank and the sump light on the new tank lights up the old tank something crazy. I figure those are the reasons. He’s never jumped before but they all do!

Sorry no pictures of the eel on the floor. But here’s one of the sump light growing algae on my floor, walls and everything with in 10

I built the wall that goes between the sump and equipment box today. Installed that and finished installing the rest of the controllers. I ended up needing more than 16 outlets so I installed a old EB8 I had.

Started mounting all my power bricks and running the rest of the wire. Reconfigured the wire management above the sump and started cleaning up the wiring in the equipment box. I will finish it up tomorrow. For now there are wires everywhere. Ugh!

Good times... 881A03CA-8D47-4B71-84F7-9D87E6D86EF4.jpeg 4153A8FC-0D38-414C-9E06-BD3F2F089E82.jpeg 7E8E7394-E9C7-40D1-ADC6-6F71881F0DCB.jpeg 8F26A63F-25F7-4789-9F79-ED3BCE9C9155.jpeg 475C8A31-5310-49B4-8451-2A4494ADB8B0.jpeg 85BA1BB1-121B-4ED9-ABEA-52917E970F29.jpeg 6165B568-91C0-4495-80D3-B2039A012A8F.jpeg DB372A9A-AF61-4A28-9F19-208F2FB47348.jpeg

So this is just a ghost overflow with the return plumbing coming out of the bottom? That's interesting. How do you like it? I am thinking about doing something similar on a project tank. It has a standard overflow but I was thinking about removing that and installing my own ghost style overflow. However, I was just going to cap the bulkheads at the bottom and drill the returns through the back. Your idea seems a little more interesting to me so maybe I'll go that route? Any comments on it? I guess I'd be most worried about the tank draining through those bulkheads.

Yes, the previous owner did exactly what you are thinking. He plugged the bottom and added the ghost overflow. He and hang over the back returns. I didn’t want to drill the tank so I use the old holes for my returns. It scares the hell out of me also but I went ahead and did it. People do it all the time with closed loops. That’s one reason do ran the pipes up high and added check valves.

Another option is to run a closed loop with your old holes. I already had MP40s and the way my system was configured it wouldn’t have worked well.

As for the ghost overflow I love it. Make sure you get one gate valve for the main drain. It runs silent in fact the whole tank does. AB3F0DFA-5C9A-4C7C-BC24-BF2282BB8D4A.jpeg

you had me at peninsula....love love LOVE em. someday I will have one. until then I am setting here reading your thread, should be working on my build.

got say it turned out nice it was fun for me to read from 1st post and see it come together.
that galaxy gray turned out better than i thought it would. + the apex cabinet is top notch. I need to make one of those to bad it will not fit my stand.

man that sump...sure is sexy let is know how the lid works out.

here is a though might be to late tho...but I bet you can do it. cover the return PVC with small LR rubble then attach a few frags of zoas or other spreading coral. just as idea.

keep us posted.
