Hello,

I added these 2 corals to my tank about 3 weeks ago. The one of the left (I believe it's Heliofungia actiniformis) looked very healthy at first, very big & beautiful, then this week has progressively looked sadder & sadder. The other, as you can see, does not seem to be able to/want to stand up straight. All other coral in the tank seems fine & we've done water changes. The H. actiniformis is sitting on the same little plastic ring it was on in the store at the top of the tank, as suggested by the aquarium store to provide lots of light & flow. The other, we've tried moving to different spots in the tank to see if it would stand, but with no luck. Surprisingly, this is the happiest it has looked.

Would you suggest changing their position in the tank? Or something this particular coral may be sensitive to, that wouldn't bother all the others?

Thank you very much for your kind help.

My apologies for the bad quality photos, I can't seem to get a decent picture without the naughty clowns wanting to be right in the shot.

can you provide some parameters?

Also flow and lighting?

Heliofungia shouldn’t really be placed at the top of the tank.

Might be too much light.

May also be the Asterina starfish i can see below it irritating it? Some are known to eat corals.
My asterinas have only been seen eating zoas and SPS. Not LPS. But could be possible!

I heard that these helio fungia don’t do well in home aquariums. I saw one at an LFS that was absolutely stunning (bright neon magenta color with long flowing arms like a torch + neon green base). It was selling for a very reasonable price but I didn’t purchase it due to the reputation of being very hard to keep.

IMO there's not enough flow.
Polyps being very limp, leather coral slumping over, goni tentacles standing straight up, are clear indications of not enough water movement.

I see no powerheads in your tank. Even my 15 gallon has 2 powerheads, flow is very important and should not be underestimated.

Heliofungia are notoriously hard to keep. Better left in the ocean
