This is my first reef tank that's gone through a lot of ups and downs as I've been learning. At first my goal was to keep clownfish because I love them, but after many trials and errors, and having the tank stable with finally no issues for 7 months, I decided to try my hand at reefing. The tank was a little over a year old when I first added corals and has had corals now for a little over a month.
Equipment :
20 gallon tall aqueon tank and lid
35 Tidal HOB filter
x2 Hygger power heads
50w Hygger light
I started off with dragon stone and 2 live rocks + live sand. Over time I cured more porous rock to replace it. I kind of regret the rocks I replaced them with since I have no aquascape to speak of and wasn't even thinking about rock placement, so I'm just rolling with the rocks I got.
The fish in my tank right now are 2 clowns and a yellow clown goby. I started off with two different clowns that perished to ich. I tried and failed to do quarantine when I barely knew what I was doing. I got a second fish to put into the quarantine tank and it also died of ich. I left my main tank fallow for 3 maybe 4 months before adding these quarantined clowns and kept them for 7 months before I was brave enough to so much as stick in my hand in the tank for fear of killing something.
Current corals. I'm unsure if I'll add more what and where. My only plan so far is to let the clove polyp take over the middle rock and for the mushrooms to take over the far right and left rock.
