Nothing like putting some new DI resin into your rodi and getting ready to make some water for the build to only realize you can’t bc you don’t have the right attachment for the sink/faucet haha

Whooooooo I just got my rodi, can’t even being thinking about changing filters!

and the exact opposite thing happened to me, I ordered an rodi and in the side a faucet attachment, and the system came with one also, so now I got two!

This is a cool build! Really enjoy seeing all the construction happening in an “urban” environment! Excited to see where this goes.

Cabinet is awesome.
Is the front of the cabinet held on by only one magnet?

I had the surface skimmer you mention. Attempted to use it in a 20 long. I ended up sending it back. The pump wasn’t strong enough to skim the water surface clean. I did have a media bag in it, so maybe that was the cause. How do you plan to dose? I used tropic Marin all for reef, which is a one part. I used it for a good while and it worked great. The cost just got to be a little expensive, and sometimes hard to find in stock. I went back to good old b-ionic two part.
Thanks so much! Yeah, surprisingly only one magnet is holding up the cabinet door however there are little 1x2’s that sit on the inside against the bottom shelf and or that one magnet would never have been strong enough.

interesting comment on the surface skimmer. I’m curious to see how it performs as there aren’t too many reviews on it but hopefully one day... maybe just one days usps will get me my mp10 that has been in the mail for almost a month haha so that’ll definitely help with water movement which in essence will hopefully get that water into the surface skimmer box.

so as far as dosing goes, I typically use to run brs dosers but those were on bigger builds where room was never really an issue. With this build I’ll probably build some sort of floating shelf or whatever my mind brings me haha and I will buy the ghl
KH director with the stand alone doser so I can keep an eye on the alk and maybe just dose a one part of some sort.

Thank you very much! Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s easy but it’s definitely slowly coming along and probably my favorite build thus far!

Since I haven’t had time to run over to Home Depot to find an attachment for the rodi, I’ve just been messing around with the radion settings. Originally I thought I was going to run the ab+ template but that is just too blue for me. I’m not really a fan of the super blue look. Also I feel like over time it starts to bother your eyes when it’s all day in the living room. I used the template as a starting point but messed around with the settings to get more of a 14k halide look. If anyone has to chime in, I’d love to hear how you run your radions/leds. I will obviously need to borrow a par meter at some point but may just rent one from brs if no one in the area has one.

Well it’s snowing here in MD. So what else is there to do when you don’t want to think about stock market anymore, you might as well work on the reef tank. Set up the surface skimmer, placed the mp10 on the glass, and organized some wiring.

That little surface skimmer is way smaller than I thought it would be!

I added a XP Aqua ato skimmer to my 20gal last week (inspired by this build :D) I'm really liking it.

Haha I’m glad it inspired you. It’s funny bc I haven’t even set mine up yet. Is it working well? Any issues? Noise level? Did you have to clean the sensor? Love to hear your feedback! :)

It is working well. Keeps the salinity steady so far. My back is painted black, so it blends right in. You hear a bit of noise when your right over the tank listening, but it's very minor. Like water running over something. Haven't had to clean the sensor yet.

I have had to play with the placement a bit. My tank has a rim, and I had it right up against the bottom of it. That was a little too high so I had to scooch it down a little.

I'm trying out an idea of tucking a piece of the poly-fill batting I use in my filters under the sensor so it filters the incoming water. It's working well so far. IMG_20210201_190147303.jpg

I was interested in getting the replacement carbon media for it, but they don't sell it. Not enough interest in it , he told me. A chemipure bag will work, though.

very cool! Thank you for sharing!! I loved the concept of this product hence why I picked out for the build. I’m definitely excited to get things moving along with the tank especially since you said you like yours so far!

slowly getting her filled up!! Couldn’t be more happy. Making sure everything nicely evening out the mat, making sure there is no high points and the best way to also see is watching the water level. Now of course please always level the stand first. But it’s always good to recheck as you fill up the tank as well!

Jumping on board. I love the simplicity of this tank and stand. Plus nano tanks are great. KP rocks will bring some really good filtration in. What are your thoughts on corals?
