Sorry I've been MIA with the build thread... What a big disaster it has been. haha

That said - the build is "done" (I say "done" because I've learned that this will be a never ending tinker project).

I'll post photos a little later today.
Sorry to hear that! I love how you floated the canopy.

Sorry to hear that! I love how you floated the canopy.

Without blabbing on and on... the disaster was with the fish and deaths, etc.

The build was/is pretty simple and straight-forward, so no issues with that part... YET. haha

Sorry to hear that! I love how you floated the canopy.

BTW - I'm not convinced that I would recommend floating the canopy idea... Although I do prefer / like the aesthetic, the visibility (and light spill of) the lights really bugs me.

Given the chance to redo, I THINK I would have done a "traditional" canopy that rests against the tank top.

Then again, I never take the opportunity to do things the simplest and most obvious way - I must subconsciously like trauma, heartbreak and tears.

I want to float my next canopy for the easy access into the tank. On traditional canopies I hated having to under/around them

Would it be possible to get some reflectors to redirect the light, or is it spilling too below the canopy?

I still have to enclose the top, but very little light is going up... it spills out either side - big time.

This canopy definitely allows for loads of room to get into the tank due to the ability to flip up the side panels.

How's the light coming along?

The tank is running pretty darned good everyone is very fat and happy.

I'm only running the Hydra AI's at this point; no T5's at all yet because I haven't added any coral, etc.

I haven't added coral, etc. because I'm absolutely DREADING getting the Apex dosing pumps calibrated.

Sure, I can build this monstrosity of a tank stand/canopy, yet the calibration has me like... ugh.

Anyone want to stop by and calibrate / set them up? Hello? Is anyone there?? haha

I’ll take that as an offer... what time will you be here?
Sorry, I'm not driving to Ohio... If you bring your DOS to me, I'd be happy to calibrate it for you :)

Ok, seriously, working on a shallow build myself, and I love the look of a floating canopy, but I also don't like the light spilling over. Been toying with different types of lighting and different ideas to minimize it. I'd appreciate your feedback.
