Guest what come in the mail today: Aquaforest 2018 calendar!
Honestly, I am a little upset when they drop out my watermark (MrV’s) on my pics. [emoji53]

Is there any reason they choose you to be on the calendar if you don't use their products? That seems real shady of them to promote it like that's what their products can do.
It’s not since I gave permit on my pics. They have good pics, I have a little fame. (But sadly they drop off my signature![emoji53])
It’s not a big deal since they do not state on the calendar that those tank use 100% of their products. And technically I did used their salt in some point of time. I also used Instant Ocean (what I started with) Red Sea salt, h2ocean. But speak up for their products, NOPE.

Congrats for all the work and dedication in your reef tank, it's beatiful and a reference to following.

When you said in you maintance regime:

"Bi-weekly:
- 10 gallons water change every 2 weeks using ESV salt.
Remove chaeto, clean the sump when doing wc. Test for Salinity."

Why you remove chaeto? Whats the purpose? Why just you dont't keep it like it is, growing into the water surface and stay there for consume nutrients?
Trimming more it's equal exporting more?

Thank you.
When the chaeto grows to the water surface, the top layer will start dying. Same time, there is no light and the one under the water surface stop growing.

Can you estimate the volume of your refugium? I'm setting up a 40 and was planning on doing a similar system as you with a lot of chaeto and an oversized skimmer only on as much as needed.

Let me know if you think this one is asd Rainbow mili? Note that it’s in the shade (very very low light).

I got it as asd rainbow and the owner not sure 100%.
But I’m sure it’s not sunset mili. Here is the sunset. (Higher lighting though)

My sump is the Emerald 30, the refugium section is small. I would say around 2~3 gallons. That’s why I have to remove chaeto regularly.

Don't think its ASD Rainbow. I could be wrong, but it looks very similar to a sunset milli. Lowest light I've kept and milli was probably around 300 par and still stayed mostly peach/orange. High light it gets almost hot pink, but I've never seen it look that green. How much par would you estimate it gets?

It’s not look like asd rainbow to me also. But it’s also not the sunset mili. (Pictures of my sunset above).
It’s growing under the shade of the rose mili above. Let’s me cut a branch and move it to higher light to see if the orange come out.

And here is the ASD rainbow frag I just acquired from my friend. It’s in my other system thought.i can clearly see the red/orange stand out.
