54 gallon corner tank lighting options

I'm looking at budget lighting for my 54g corner tank. I think I've settled on the viparspectra box but not sure what size to get. The 165w should probably work for what I plan on keeping (softies and LPS), but wondering if the 300w would be better, or overkill. Anyone here have any wisdom to impart on lighting for this odd tank?
