Did the daily vac, Dinos are more concentrated in certain areas than before. (like they were strong, then weaker, now missing in some spots, but back to strong in certain areas)

Overall numbers down I think, but targeting certain Zoas, the Green Monti caps and newer rock. I think as the corals get healthier again after lack of light we will be in business...

Coralline spots are taking off as you said @LRT

Your going to continue to fight the dinos fight while the good stuff competes to balance out and win over those problem areas. Are you still detecting phosphates? Did you pull drain plug on skimmer and allow to dump back into sump? You can floss your water with 5 micron sock at this point. I wouldn't worry about the skimmer cleaning water column id be more concerned about it removing nutrients needed and other goodies in your system atm.
Your still running carbon? Getting Nitrates down will help balance phosphates better. I went through this exact same thing honestly. Keep fighting the good fight. Remove dinos through the sock back to sump and do it daily if you have to. Keep an eye on phosphates closely. If possible dose .03 daily until it sticks. Could take a cpl months for it to happen and get through the fight. Winning some battles though good things are happening!

Yup, but bet corals loved the free food. I know when I re-up mine (I collect from Indian river lagoon) that I get the best PE ever from my acros lol.

Test tonight reading 16N, .12P 3rd night in a row. Skimmers running wide open draining right back into the tank.


Still needing to dose bright well products with 11 fish and feeding 3x a day.

Was not home today to vac but thinks looked "ok"

Forgive me up front... but if skimmer is draining back into tank why not just take it offline. I did that with my reef and had explosive results... just saying...

@F i s h y are you running skimmers? How do you regulate or maintain PH swings if not? I'm just barely getting back into higher more stable PH. Summers kill me here when it gets super hot and can't open windows and the heat keeping the nasty air on top of us. I can def see the difference in my corals with low pH and nasty outside air I'm drawing on the skimmers. Windows are open now though.

I mean I guess... You have a point.

At this point I guess some self fulfillment that I didn't waste money on it lol.

It also has helped me gauge how much waste I'm getting whether it's foaming hard or not.

And to LRTs point I have a CO2 scrubber on it running.

It's a basement windows closed and a pellet burner running. With a radon remover because the airflow down there is t the best

No skimmers. Refugium on opposite schedules with lots of macro. The photosynthesis makes the swings much more manageable.

This can be accomplished with an air pump just the same if not needed. But a reverse cycle with a large enough fuge and macro does nearly the same. Co2 used oxygen returned...

True, but if you are running a skimmer already and want to take it "offline" for whatever reason I think the keep the skimmer running and take the cup off or dump the skimmate back in method has the least impact on the system during that change.

That system may not have a large established fuge.
