72x30x18 DIY build thread

Awesome build. Jealous of these dimensions. I have a 48x24x16 penninsula and I always say I wish it was a little wider deeper and longer. Just curious what it cost you to have that tank glass made? I'll probably have to go this route in a year or 2 since no one makes a reasonable tank with similar specs.

Glass cages is fairly reasonable. About double the cost of what I did diy.

The glass cost $1000 . And other misc supplies cost roughly $200.

Next time I will get mine pre built. Probably

that's not going to have huge turnover. could probably go without the box. but really want to have a game plan for the drains.
That's right. Was thinking a full siphon at height desired for water. Then a hole slightly higher or with a stand tube for emergency with a slow trickle. Like a herbie

Not noticeable with our BLUE lights unless you are looking at the edge of the tank... im telling you not worth it
It’s really not and scratches much easier
I can see myself building a new tank out of acrylic soon to replace my current tank.. I hate glass lol

Asking them what size the provided glass bit is so I can get a bulkhead for the return that just fits.

Then we order the overflow box and plumbing and say we can't just have it empty! What goods an empty tank
You got a cat right?

I heard cats love empty tanks!

considering not hard plumbing this display fuge. feeling lazy.... but hard plumbing would look alot better .... hmm

Home after 5 days away.

Usually don't test but once a week anyways. Only difference was feeding schedule. Came home to 3 nems instead of 2 and maybe a 4th on the way.

Og red dragon acro bleached on me... Not sure why . Will have to test tomorrow . Maybe a fluke.

Alright... Got locline in there too but plan is 1/2 2 holes with the strainer. Offset like a Herbie. Main drain has a gate. Emergency slow trickle.

Return line single hole. 251 gph on a 12 is a ton of turn.

Any regrets before I launch it?
