Couple updates outside of meat!

Took in a couple corals for a buddy who crashed his tank to dinos and no nutrients. Some are fairing better than others. This torch may not make it. I give it 5% chance...

Yes that's jelly. Cipro and iodine bathing....




I did a sump clean out today! First in 2 years....With some pretty shocking results. Method was drain sump water into 5g buckets. Plunged rock and larger media to dislodge detritus.

I then stirred the top layer of sand . Yes sand in the sump. No rotten eggs were smelled. I pumped the gross water out and refreshed with new.

Here is one rock plunge and a pile of detritus.... Mmm

Results!
35 gallons total volume of water changed

Important note:
The return pump to main display was turned off during this process of course in case rotten eggs were smelt. Aka gasses from the deep sand bed in the sump.

Was anything wrong with the tank visually ? No .

But phosphate monitoring and management has been an issue lately. This is an aim at removing and kick-starting the sump media again given it's a low flow area.

Quick sidenote; far be it from me to say anything but a few is more than a couple. HA!

This week did a little moving around yesterday. A local buddy had his tank crash to Dinos earlier this year. We tried to salvage his torches and other things. Managed to save a few.

Now back under control. Loaded him up and trimmed the monsters in the tank. He also brought me some pretty new baby frags (learning insurance in giving to friends)

The middle very hungry looking one is my oldest coral. Came to me just like the one to the left (buddy gave me) Others are @Stang67 's gift

Here's the green slimer very cut back and no longer killing the Pectinia! Blue ridge has some ridges from none other than @fishguy242. Buddy took some
