I've had this 75 gallon sitting here empty that I had previously used for freshwater and decided it's time to put it back in service. This time with salt. I got the rock from ebay. I'm terrible at aquascape but this is what I came up with. Probably could break them up some but I didn't. I also have an unused fx4 canister I was thinking about using, but I hate canisters. Would like to build a sump, but the aquarium stand it's on doesn't allow for that. Would have to build one. Maybe just a HOB for now.

Open to any suggestions!

I'm fairly new with saltwater, but experienced with freshwater. I've managed to keep my 29 gallon "starter" alive! See my into thread here.

Just noticed SNF in the reflections lol..hopefully not a copyright infringement..

hows the build going, i know life happens and the tank pulls you into it but just wondering 😉
I haven't done anything with it yet. Still have not figured out what RODI system I want to get or just try tap water. I started my 29 gallon with tap and it seemed to be ok, but have been using RODI with water changes. Plus all of the other stuff I need to buy.

Got tired of looking at this empty tank, well not empty just no water, sand or fish. The essentials! My other tank has course substrate and I wanted to have just fine sand in this one. I washed it in buckets like I always do, but not sure if it was enough. It will clear eventually I think.

My goal is to move my pair of clownfish to it, add an anemone on the left side (no experience with them), and a blue tang (also no experience). Maybe some hermit crabs too. Once the water clears, I might just take a live rock or two out of my 29 gallon tank and add it to this one. Should be instant cycled I think with a small bioload. I decide against using my FX4 canister because I hate them. Don't have any space for a sump, so might get another HOB if needed.

Not too bad so far. Only filled with freshwater here from tap. I have a small RO buddy but would take days for this amount of water. A bigger system is on my list though.

I think in 12-18 hours I'll stir it up some and the drain most of it. Then refill with saltwater.

Put a sump above and use the canister to power it.

You could take a hammer and break some of those peices up and make a scape with the smaller rocks.

Got some black box lights and hung them. I like them for now. Looks good to me! I think I might lower them down about 6". Also transferred a caribsea rock from my 29 gallon to this one so I can put the menace wrasse in with it.

I am really liking saltwater tanks. Still have my 125 cichlid tank that I maintain, but getting kind if tired of it.
