Had to make a little feeder box to kee all the food from being pulled down the overflow. I do use the feed mode on the apex but I don’t like having to restart the siphon on the overflow three times a day .
It works but I’m going to make up a deeper one and try drilling some holes in it at different depths to see if I can get the food to disperse under the surface in multiple spots.
The coast to coast overflow is just too dang good with the surface skimming haha.
I have been testing my nitrates and phosphates with the Hannah checkers. Finally got my po4 up to .03 with heavy feeding and turning my skimmer off. Nitrates we’re still testing zero. I got my package of sodium nitrate today and began dosing.
Today I dosed 30mL throughout the day. Should have been around .6ppm for my tank volume.
Since the Hannah nitrate reagent packs are out of stock for a while longer I’ll be testing with my salifert while dosing and once I think I’m close to where I want to be, I’ll confirm with the Hannah.
Going through the ugly phase. We added some peppermint shrimp to both tanks when we picked up the new sps frags. Other than the diatoms, everything else looks good. Po4 and no3 are getting in the target range.
I’ll be sending out an ICP test in a week or so for some baseline numbers.
Lights are ramping down but I finally got the orphek lense kit. Figured it’s about time for some coral photos. I’ll try and get some better ones tomorrow. I really need to get my canon out for some good shots.
I wish I could remember which one is what. Sps are coloring up nicely. Nitrates testing at 8.3ppm, still getting 0.0 on phosphates. I’m feeding very heavy but it doesn’t seem to budge.
