I think it's dino's. Panic terribly, do a total blackout, start dosing 3 different bottles, increase temperature, kill the corals, kill the fish, replace all pumps and lights, do waterchanges, stop doing waterchanges, lower nitrients, increase nutrients.
Check if the grain still moves.

I had a grain of sand move from one area of my tank to another.

I'm concerned on what to do.....

Should I do a total tank teardown?
Should I do a massive water change?
Should I get all new powerheads?
Should I scoop out all the sand and do a thorough rinse?
Do I just replace the sand?

If I replace the sand should I replace 100% of it? 50%? 25%?

Please help
Remember: Keep your hands out of the tank!

So an obvious answer might be to go with a bare bottom, but it turns out it's actually the water current that moves the sand. I'd recommend running a waterless tank if you want to keep the sandbed.
I know this is a haha thread but I had a client that actually wound up doing that. He got so frustrated fighting nuisance algae that he kept taking more and more live rock out of his tank. Eventually, he drained the tank and left it with dry sand - a couple rocks , dead coral skeletons and seashells. He called it his 100 gallon dry tank. Seriously. He even ran the lights.

@zoa what

while sleeping on your problem I determined you sand is traveling to another dimension and returning but it never sticks its landing and always ends up in a different spot.

your tank is haunted by the ghost sand

you definitely need a priest a rabbi and witch doctor to fix your problem

then get in the braced position a kiss your tank good bye
