Tub's Blues

tubbsblue.jpg

- Description on zoaid.com...
"Story Behind Zoa: Quite possibly the first person to introduce Blue Zoas 'to the masses', these famous blues were named after the person introducing them: Tub."
http://www.zoaid.com/index.php?module=Gallery2&g2_itemId=41

While this spotlight focuses on the blue with brown skirt Tub's Blues, there are various off shoots with similar blues but different skirts. Feel free to post any pics on here that you think may qualify as Tub's or his blue cousin.

*** I don't have these zoas so it will be up to the CZ community to give us the best lighting, flow, feed or not, or any other info for this color strain.***

Lighting:
- Blues will do best lower in the tank and should be started off in a slightly shaded area.

Flow:
- Medium current would be the best type of flow for these zoas.

Feeding:
- Not required but may consume foods small enough to fit in its mouth.

Origins:
-

Growth Rate:
- Fast growth rate whether fed or not.

Rarity:
- Hard to find but not the most difficult morph. Expect to pay a pretty penny though.

ID Confusions:
- A lot of blues are coming in from South Florida and the Caribbeans.

Other info:
- Original namer and keeper of these Zoas was Tub's himself.

Here are my Tub's Blues (10k and actinic PC), without flash, and with flash.
IMG_0219a.jpg

IMG_0221.jpg

Lighting: lower light. 10k PC bottom of tank works for me to keep vibrant blue color.

Flow: medium indirect flow

Feeding: not required, but will grow faster with cyclopeeze and phyto.

Growth Rate: Fast growth, double every 2 to 3 months.

Rarity: Harder to find, but not impossible. Still pricey.

ID Confusions: many different shades of blues and everyone claims to be blue zoas to sell for more. Tub's blue is still unique with vibrant royal blue with brown skirt.

Lighting:ive had these in all diffrent lighting sceniro's but get the best color mid tank under 400watt halides

Flow: i get best growth under med current ive also lost frags that were in lower current to the fungus ware only a few inches away others of the same frag time in high current didnt
-

Feeding:ive never fed these other then anything they catch on there own but still get great growth
-

Origins:im gessing carribean
-

Growth Rate:ive had a frag of five triple within a month
-

Rarity:there avaible just finding a fair deal somtimes can be the prob
-

ID Confusions:alot of the sweet morph's coming out of the carribean seem to be the most misrepresented.

Mine turned green within days of putting them in direct light of my T5s, anywhere in the tank. Down at the bottom, slightly shaded, they went back to their bright blue, within a few days.

I love the color of tubs blues, they just standout so nicely. I have mine on the sand under a 6-54w TEK T5 fixture. Previously they were on the sand under a 250w MH. Mine stay blue no matter where i place them.

I would say Nay.... under actinic.. blue is okay, but skirt is not right color. pic #2, blue is too light. and skirt should be brown.. that looks more like light green. They are cool blue zoas, but not Tub's.
