Update:
I went back to basics, turn off 2part dosers, took biopellets offline, weekly w/c, weekly params test.

Results:
Corals have better polyp extension, getting color in a few corals that werent coloring up, corals dieing/bleaching/tips burning/base receding has all stopped.

Over a week ago i got an idea from ritter's advice. I took his advice and went one step further. I emailed what i think are the high roller sps sponsors on R2R. I asked each one to explain how they keep their tanks, lights, salt, w/c, coral food, nutrient export, use of biopellets, photo period and their params.

I was blown away to learn that all sponsors that replied keep a very basic system and that got me thinking, these are the place i get my corals so maybe i should try to mimic their tanks. So far i feel pretty confident in my decision to go this route.

Since i took the biopellets offline, i will rely on my cheato to keep my nitrates and phosphates down. I did buy some gfo to keep on standby to lower phos if needed. Im thinking of setting up a ATS if i see a rise in nutrients. I believe biopellets are a great tool if used correctly but are very aggressive. With everything going on with my corals, i figure this trial couldnt be much worse than the state things were in prior.
I made a spreadsheet with all the sponsors replies. A huge thanks to all the Sponsors here at R2R to take the time to answer my questions and some even went out of there way to follow up and give me their phone numbers to call if i needed any help.

Im not doubting sucess with biopellets, there are dozens of succesful tanks that use them. I just dont think they were right for me.

I never said they didnt work, in fact, i think they worked to good. If im not mistaken, biopellets worked by consuming nitrates and phosphates at roughly 16:1 ratio. So my phosphates were high while nitrates are 0. Thus starving corals and i dislike the chance of alk burns from running them.

Granted i prob could have stop using 500ml and went with a lesser amount but im just trying go back to the basics as the sponsors do. I may one day go with biopellets again but for now, large skimmer, w/c, small amounts of gfo, and possibly a ATS is the route i want to try.

I did get a brs 50ml/min to dose kalk like i had orginally planned but for now my demand isnt enough to mess with dosing.

Just do what you're most comfortable with and feel like will give you the best results.

I'm not one bit surprised that the majority of them use halides, you can't go wrong with the growth and coloration you get from them. Not saying you can't get that from LED's as well but there's no arguing halides results.

Hope you get things turned around.

Thanks! This might be a failure but it cant be much worse than things were before. I feel good about this as many were saying i was over thinking things and the best thing to do is go back to the basics and see what happens.

Thanks for all your help

Thank you for this. Not only does it help people having problems with seasoned tanks, it helps guys like me just getting started and being able to see what is proven to work for people that have been at this for a long time.

Thanks guys, i glad the spreadsheet is helping others as it helped me. I cant begin to tell you how great it feels to see improvement in color and polyps and no dieing corals.

Only time will tell if i found what works for my tank.

That's a great quote. My motto for reefing is "ask 100 different people the same question and get 100 different answers. Find what works for you and go with it".
