So I'm at a loss. I've been in the hobby for a good long time now and have never seen the likes of this situation. My acros are stn from the base up but the parts that look ok have full polyp extension. It's just my acros that seem to be effected. This started happening when I made a couple of changes to my tank. I switched my gfo and carbon reactors for better ones and I got anew skimmer rated well above my tank. I can't imagine that the acros are dying because the water is too clean. Anyone delt with this before?

+1 on GFO being the cause.
One thing to consider is that even though the steps you have taken to reduce your levels to premium parameters, having it happen too fast can cause your acros to be effected negatively. Nothing good happens fast, even when it's something like reducing phosphates. Your corals have adjusted to your system and so when you add more efficient equipment it can strip the tank so fast that it actually can do more harm than good initially.
Over skimming is not really the issue IMO. But the GFO in a more efficient reactor can definitely be the cause. Reduce the amount of GFO and things should balance back out. Then keep testing to see how quickly your phosphates and nitrates are dropping.

Thanks for the advice. The more I think about it the more I'm pretty sure it is the gfo. I got a reactor with a massive chamber. I tried to not use too much but I also have a pump on it that is pushing 100 gph. The chamber is big enough that all that does it tumble it. If I put a pump with far less gph. Say like 20 would that help?

+1 on GFO. My SPS tank had been on the high side of the phosphate reading at 0.15. To reduce it I changed out the GFO and started dosing brightwell phosphate-e. Lost 2 colonies to RTN already.
Anytime you are adding GFO or BP you need to add it slowly. If you do not add it slow enough (week by week) then there is a very large chance that the water will be stripped therefore causing stress. Kind of like if you were to go to work, someone rip all your clothes off of you and you turn red from embarrassment, only the SPS "become" white.

Hmmmmm I'm running 1 cup in 120 in tlf 550 reactor with rio hp 300. Not sure this is the cause. I just started running gfo again as well about month and a half ago.
