The update everyone’s been waiting for....

Never again am I using tap water and using “safe” to do a water change.
In the last month since doing my water change I have had extremely high AlK, low pH, and the vibrant has barely touched the GHA outbreak over the last 4 weeks.

thankfully all the fish are thriving, but I cannot say the same for the inverts.

what has died in the last four weeks:
- baby maxima clam ((~only~ $70 so not too broken hearted))
- my GORGEOUS lobo I loved so much (partially due to the sand issue and the added stress of the high alk just made it bleach)
- spongeode that was the first to pop off in growth, now 100% bleached.

Things that aren’t doing so hott:
- rock flower nem (shrinking)
- Birdsnest (losing color)
-frogspawn (hasn’t been ‘full’ in weeks)
-Christmas tree worms (still alive but haven’t seen them out to filter feed in weeks— just see the tip of their heads poking out of the holes every now and then)
- tubbs stelata (urchin took a chomp out of part of it, guess all the GHA was getting boring and he wanted a change up)
-bubble coral (Not as bouncy as it usually is)
-caulerpa in the fuge is also not as lush as it once was.

what IS doing alright:
-candy cane split a new head
- plating green monti is actually looking like a mini plate
- all the large pieces @Kattkrazie gave me are still doing super well and ever so slowly started to encrust on my live rock. So many baby mushrooms.
- chandlers eating like a horse (or just a growing baby eel) we’ve upgraded from krill to smelt! And he is still eager to eat the broadcast feed too. However, sometimes the sailfin says HECK NAW and uses her tail to shove chandler back into the rockwork.

anyways... I’ve been doing some research and I THINK that because I’m aiming for a zero// minimal water change system that the old bacteria is dying and it isn’t getting the micronutrients it needs to replenish. So I’m going with Prodibo ‘Reef Booster” as a bi weekly supplement.
interested to see how it’ll take. Amazon accidentally gave me two boxes instead of the 1 I paid for. So I hope it works!
