Sure thing, it is not just an opinion of mine but more or less a fact. This is why we see them expel bits of junk after a large meal. Bones, or shells from crustaceans are always expelled

I do not mean to sound like anemones do not or will not eat whole fish/inverts. I just find it unnecessary. Anemone will thrive just the same under quality lighting and water params

In the ocean I’d say yes they are extremely robust and hardy. In aquarium they can be a bit more sensitive, even a well established nem could become sick and diseased if it ingested a piece of contaminated fish or seafood. Not saying that’s what will happen, but it adds risk and it’s just not needed.

Yes thank! I am pretty much agreeing..

I found your argument about fish defending the nem also pretty good. I am still thinking about this and have no argument back.

I find the waste expel system of anemone pretty durable. So I see dispelling bones as a natural behaviour. They don't feed that often on whole fish or shrimps, but I think they can handle it at least once a month. I don't want to feed more than once every 3 weeks.

I am trying to get a good sense of what to feed, and am in no hurry to learn. Currently I feed them mysis by broadcast feeding every day, and Silverside type of fish directly about once a month.

For the record, nems can do weird stuf.

One of mine had a episode about a week ago. All is fine now and it's doing nem things again, but I had about 2 weeks of weird behaviour.

Since none of the other 8 nems did anything odd, and nothing changed in or around the tank... I did nothing.

It seems to end up well, and the nem is fine again... but I have been looking at this:

This was labeled as a Sherman Rose…I love it so I bought a smaller one the next time I went to the LFS.

A happy Rock Flower which has settled on the side of a rock

The least cutest - a carpet anemone from Petco - that has also found a cozy spot in a rock (in a diff tank than the others). Not entirely sure why I bought this one 😅

I have (had?) a RBTA but cannot find it and haven’t seen it in weeks 🙁

Very nice Sherman’s! They looks very similar to blackwidow. Excuse me for the most horrible pic

More about the nem later 🎉 but check this out.

When we removed the nem from it's place I noticed it was squirting tiny stream of water out of the sides. It was deflating and ejecting water. I did not know this was a thing.. so I got to go google.

You need to look close and you see multiple small water streams coming out of the rim

In SoCal during low tide , we used to play with the nems as kids , if you touch them they squirt water at you like a water gun! Haha

Something is digging in...
Let us all please hope this one finds its path and continuous it's journey in my world.

I am no where near sure this is going to go well, but ... If it goes wrong... I better write about it.

Sneak peak of a digging nem

My itty bitty nem, Tiny Bubbles. Not sure how it’ll fare in my young-ish 20G, but so far so good. It’s been wandering around the rock a bit trying to find somewhere it prefers.
Little baby nem, give it like 1 mysis every week and it will be so happy 😃 , some more BTA spam

So.. I did not remove the Alveopora yet...
I can watch it with camera's all day, so if I have the feeling it would start to go bad, it would be moved to another spot.

But ... this is weird? Is it not?

This Alveopora has been touching the left small haddoni for weeks.
Now another bleu anemone is also starting to touch it.

The Alveo does not react at all. I am not drawing conclusions here... but I am amazed.
