Feeding tongs for size comparisonVery very weird glass anemone.
This is from TBS, so it’s not a very common thing; clearly related to the dreaded common aiptasia, it’s very large (the oral disk alone must be 3in) and it’s much thicker stemmed too. Additionally, it’s remarkably peaceful (for a glass anemone), it refused to eat snails (I had a few tiny whelks that I attempted to feed to it, but it dropped them.) It also doesn’t bother the corals near it, which are LPS. It’s been around 10 months since I first saw it on the rock and I have seen it attempt to propagate, and there are a good many little ones about but they appear slow growing, and haven’t been invasive at all.
A pleasant surprise, pretty glad I don’t have to remove it.
It also does look as bad as the other glass anemones. (Though really, not as nice looking as the BTAs)
