I've dipped rocks and coral before but have never added it to the tank. I have a bad algae outbreak in my tank now and have been thinking about giving it a try. Has anyone seen any bad reactions using it with their fish or coral?

I was dosing a while back but never had any negative reaction with 3% h2o2. Like someone mentioned zoas and kenya tree close up when dosed but open back up in a short period. I never stuck to it as I mostly used h2o2 as a dip for my zoas when I had a lot of diatoms covering my live rock and frag plugs, very effective cleaning powerheads as well.

H2O2, yes and I use the 3%

Hey vetteguy...any bad effects using 3ml of H2O2 on ZOAS/PALYS?

seems like zoas/palys use algae to generate zooxanthellae in their tissue

So wondering if H2O2 discolors them, stunts growth... closes up polyps? Are they P'ed off?

I was dosing 1 ml per 4-5 gallons for a month to eliminate velvet (which it did). Water was super clear, no algae growth. Only effect was that my xenia completely stopped pulsing. Zoas and palys would immediately close after h202 was injected, but they opened up soon afterward

Could you describe the benefits you have seen?
Increased overall health of corals ./ fish superb water quality.

To the OP and everybody else in this thread sea water contains 0.5 to 14 μg/L of hydrogen peroxide , so why everybody skip this important part of water chem is beyond me. I have done this for over 20 years by the way. Sometimes you just need to stop and look around to find what your missing the info is ALL there.

Ok this is like Chinese Calculus reading this statement.

So are you saying if you use "whatever" salt mix...like IO, IO RC, Coral Sea Pro, Fritz.... whatever.... dosing H2O2 is a must(?)

To maintain this "0.5 to 14 μg/L" reading... I need a PracticalMan's guide to dosing daily per 100 gals

Ok my Inner-Reef brain is telling me corals build zooxanthellae... which is Algae based.

Is H2O2 screwing around and killing micron nutrients needed by zooxanthellae? Or even killing zooxanthellae?

Enlighten me

Could it be a problem to dose peroxide if you use phoshate rx

I don't see how it would have a reaction with any lanthanum chloride product. To be honest, I don't see how dosing hydrogen peroxide long term would be terribly beneficial. I am going to give it a try and take detailed notes.

Are there any corals to be careful of if you are just using low dose? Lps, sps are both good with 1ml per 10 gal?
