I have the new Apex controller and recently decided to hardware the internet connection and move away from wife. I am using a CE TECH Cat 5e cable, 150ft for what it is worth. It is connected through my ceiling and wall to my Xfinity router/modem.

When I log in to the Fusion iPhone app I have a red exclamation point and connection error message. "This Apex isn't currently connected to Fusion."

It will sporadically connect wirelessly. Like a moment ago, but it still thinks the connection is wifi and. It Ethernet.

I have turned off my modem/Apex together. Then booted up the modem and Apex in that order. I have hit manual reset on the Apex as well.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Just a thought but I went into my router and allowed it to give access to the apex
I gave it DMZ access I don't know if comcast will allow you to do that though

The apex is just like a computer to the router.
First check if your apex has an IP given by the router. Are you using DHCP or Static IP for the apex?
Second check if you can ping the apex from a local computer.
I'm not familiar with your modem/router so I don't know if it blocks the apex to go online....if your laptop (hardwire, not wifi) does not need special permission/setup then good chance u don't need to do anything for the apex

To setup port forwarding (Fusion does not use this) you might need to change the settings inside the router to open up some ports....

I believe DHCP for the Apex. I don't have a laptop (arrives end of the month). I logged into my router.

Online devices listed include wife's phone, gaming console another iPhone and something called 'localhost' but all are listed DHCP and their connections defined as WiFi.

Offline devices include 4 alphanumerical names, 3 on DHCP WiFI and 1 is listed 'Reserved IP' and listed connection as Ethernet.

Could this be the hiccup?

The offline device connected by Ethernet has the same IP as my Apex according to Fusion so that is likely it. How do I bring it online from the offline status?

I don't think you can bring an off line device online! Off line I think just means it was on line at 1 point and not connected at the moment; ignore that and the localhost as they are irrelevant now.

I think you can still use your phone or your wife's phone to test the apex.
1. Use the display and look for the ip address of your apex
2. open a browser on your ipad, phone,..any device with a browser
3. type the ip of the apex
Note: if the apex asks your for the password and shows a blank page, you might need to clear the cache of the browser.

If you see the apex pages then it means the router some how prevents the apex to connect to fusion. If you don't see the apex pages (like page not found or server not responding...page is offline), reboot the apex (disconnect the power to the base of the apex for at least 60 seconds)...if that does not work you might have to reset the apex....Do not reset the apex unless you have no choice.

In the process of rebooting. My zip address starts with 10 and then has three separate numbers separated by periods. I put that in a browser, no http or www. Just the numbers and got a server not responding.

So I pulled the power to the base leaving the EB8 running.

Still nothing. Now when I log into the router I do show a device connected that was not previously. Under details it lists the Apex Ip. But Fusion still is not available

That new device is connected via wifi and not Ethernet. I can log in and change it to Reserve IP instead of DHCP if that's of any use

10.0.0.1 is your router log in. Find the iP through the connected devices via the router. Also check the display of the apex under network setup to confirm the new ip via Ethernet connection. Log into the ip and setup fusion.

I have a new Apex with no display. I logged into the router, found the Host name and the IPv4 address. It is the same IP address listed in Fusion the last time I was able to check.

It is listed as 'Online' in the router but also listed as a WiFi 2.4G connection and not Ethernet.

(Thanks for the help everyone, we'll get it!)

Surfing the Neptune forum. FAQ section on connection issues.

"Your default gateway in your Apex network setup must match the IP address of your router. In your network setup if the default gateway says 192.168.1.1, then you should be able to enter http://192.168.1.1 and receive the login prompt on your router. If you do not, then you need to change the Apex's settings to reflect your router's IP address, update setting and restart your Apex after doing so.
Via the Web Server: Configuration> Network Setup
Via the Display Screen: System> Netsetup> Gateway"

I cannot access my router using 192.168.1.1 instead I use 10.0.0.1 - could this be an issue?

How did you log into the router before? by name or by IP address? I think by default the gateway might be 10.0.0.1 but that is not set in stone. You can find out the gateway easily with a computer.......

Your ip for the apex is going to be 10.0.0.? 10.0.0.1 is the default for the XFINITY gateway. under connected devices it will take some detective work, but use the ip,s in your browser that are not labeled with Ethernet by them in connected devices. I would suspect it would be the last ip in the list. Snap a picture with a phone to make thinks easier.
