I noticed the other day that I have a few Aptasia in my overflow, how do I go about getting rid of them from the overflows? If I just pull them out they will release spores and just spread in the overflow, correct? I can't put a pep shrimp in my overflow if I ever want to get it back out again. Not sure what to do or if it's really that big of a deal. Will they die if I cover the overflow up and there is no light getting in there?

Microwave a coffee cup of RO/DI water and now use a turkey baster to cook the little SOB's.

No they will not die if you cut off the light. You are correct if you cut them out 1 cell can spawn a new one. I would leave them alone. Or if you really want rid of them use a product like Aiptasia X.

I use aptasia X but my tank isn't full of aptasia - only get one every once in a long while.
