I have 6 nassarius snails. 2 that have been with me for 7 month and 4 new additions. Plus 1 leopard print (my little animal print snail) who is giant!
Every few weeks I have to put a clam on the half shell just to coax them out and make sure they are alive! Well since I put 4 new additions in the tank is totally active with ALL my nassarius snails on the move..
So one keeps going over to the YWG/pistol hole and looks like he is trying to go in there!
Should I let him alone? I keep plucking him out and he keeps going back! I'm tired of arguing with him! LOL that's what it feels like!
But maybe I should not intervene? I feel like the pistol might chomp his tube:eek:
.And I can tell the YWG is not happy but doesn't know what to do..
The snail was waving his tube in front of the ywg face!

Funny story but not much you can do if it's determined to keep going back other than banning it to the sump.

Yeah I guess I can put them in the sump like for a timeout and then put them back in after a couple of hours and see if you leave him alone. Except, I believe the four latest nails I got our part of a gang! Look at this picture I hope it comes out...
Looks like he went to get a couple of his buddies now three of them are there! And the tuna serious nails that are near each other actually look like they're fighting oh my God you can't make this stuff up!

Some of the things we see in our reefs is just crazy n can be funny. New thing to be on the lookout for snail gangs lol. Wonder if the leader has a tattoo of Gary the snail from sponge Bob lol. I've given fish and crabs a timeout in sump but never a snail. Maybe it's a mating thing not fighting.

That is FUNNY! I'm new to the sump world so I didn't even think of that. I will keep it in mind!
It could be a mating thing because you know the little tubes that stick up in the sand? at some point 2 were touching each other so they were PRETTY close under the sand and if they were fighting I imagine sand would have been flying! LOL

Also, I have a baby snail that was born in my other tank but its still to small to see what kind. I'm so excited about that! Just love this stuff!

In the pic it looks like you might have a whelk. Often sold as "Tongan Show Nasarius". The easiest way to tell us if it has a little piece of protective "armor" (not sure of the technical term) on its tail end. They are predatory towards other snails and you should definitely banish it if it's a whelk.
