I have been doing some research of and I am wondering if anyone has a spectrophotometer and can test individually what elements are in their water on demand or if this is even a concept?? imagine if we could learn to do this and get extremely accurate results on demand? obviously you can send in an icp test but it is a week+ for turnaround

What have you been researching?

I doubt there is any hobbyist that has and ICP for at home testing.

A spectrophotometer, which some folks have (including me in the past) is different and far less expensive than an icp. :)

A used icp can be tens of thousands of dollars. A new one can be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

is it cost effective?? and how accurate are results compared to ICP? id presume pretty accurate if your machine is calibrated and using correct reagents and such. what did you think about your experience with it?

A spectrometer cannot easily be used to measure most ions. You’d need a test method for each one. I had one that work was getting rid of, but did not use it for much.
