Anyone found a way to make these go up and down safely over a tank?

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of a lift as it sure looks like it’ll be super annoying to have the entire tank surface covered.

I have not yet put together anything that I want to hang over my tank... 3 of them 18” out from the wall is a LOT of moment

for those of you who mounted them from ceiling how much does it affect your access?

On a 30" wide tank I haven't had any trouble with access. Narrower like maybe 24" tanks I can see having issues, but I can't speak to that for sure.

It’s not bad now, as I only have 1. I just push it to one side or the other on the t track, but when I get another it will be an issue. I was thinking about something like putting a piece of pipe through both cables when cleaning to raise it like 6 more inches

Looks like this type of mount would work for supporting the Straton also. Does anyone know what brand that is?

Yeah, I was kind of thinking something like that too. maybe even some small Velcro on the backside to stick them to the wall for a few minutes.

I guess the money would be to have put actuators in the ceiling, but that would have required a crystal ball

Yeah, those are Kessil A mounts. They’re pretty great as they hide cords.

I don’t know if I want to put that much torque on the back glass though
Straton lists weight at 9.4 lbs..

24" t5 hybrid lists weight at 9 lbs plus the Kessil in the above.

The Stratons are heavy, like 10x of a kessil a360x. I would not consider neck mounting them, it would be a ton of torque on the glass.
Updated my post.. looks like about the same weight as the hybrid/Kessil pictured above..
Tank glass looks a but thicker than some though. Hard to tell..

I hear you though.. Those kind of mounts always worry me regardless of light/tank BUT that's just me.

More my style..though not very err pretty.

My 3 have arrived, as well as the rental PAR meter. Phew. Got the hardware installed yesterday. Looks slick as snot. Lovely.

Has anyone had any luck assigning a fixed IP to these? I’d rather not play a guessing game with them once they’re on my network...

I had to in my router, I just named them straton1 through straton4. I login to them using http://straton1/login

Do so via your router is the best method. Assign their MAC addresses to static IP's / host names.

Day 2 sunrise.
Once the firmware was done they’re pretty straightforward. Gonna take a while to get used to seeing the light panels. dang does the tank look good though!

Par meter said about 60% power on SPS Plakativ = the previous 5 kessil 360WEs. Starting there and will ramp up slowly.

love the quiet. Love the elegance. Love the lack of BS wires. Extra love the distribution. No more dark corners!

@Hydrored, thanks for the am/pm blue pop setting. Using that for ends of the bell curve. Most of the day is Flourescent, then SPS Plakativ for mid-day 3 hours
