I think most corals do very well at retaining colors under the 20k MHs, but my acans are still relatively new, and theyre holding color fine under 14ks

LOW light, but not in the shade.

Bottom of the tank usually is the best. Rainbow varieties forsure need lower light, or they will morph to all red...most of the time.

shouldnt be an issue, just be sure to feed them meaty foods atleast once a week. Turkey basters work great...

Mysis shrimp are their food of choice IMO.

Agreed about the mysis. I got my small frag (2 heads) roughly a week ago and have spot fed them once to twice daily, they should grow like rockets hahaha

As far as coloration, I think they do better under VHO or PC's. I have them in all different lighting and by far the best colored ones are in the softer light. I can take an acan from my soft light and photograph it under my 400w 20k bulbs and the color just POPS. But it I leave it there for a few months it seems like it will lose some of it's intense coloration.

It's strange. I have a friend who i gave some acans to and he's got 2 250MH over a 75gal and all of them are bleached looking. They turn transparent looking and lose color. Mine under 250MH over a 29gal stays colored up. But i would have to agree the rainbows like the lower light as i had a rainbow turn reddish.
