I got this new frag and its encrusting nicely but the colors have shifted into this melted look? Now i'm really curious how this acro is going to turn out...

Looks cool

Dana’s macna video discusses this year was about lighting and different elements in our tanks and the sellers morphing coral colors. Looks to me like that’s what’s happening. Either way I think it’s awesome looking!
@Dana Riddle this could be one right up your ally for your new test!

It looks to me like there are pigments that developed under possibly other lighting that they are not getting now... or some are developing now that were not developed before. Do you know the lights that it came from?

I have had this happen to many frags over the years. Hobbyists would trade to see what colors changed. Mostly noticeable with sps it seems. Have not tried it much with lps or softies.

No idea it was an aquasd frag

Yea a lot of the green pigment grafts like that will fade out and get overtaken by the natural pigment in the coral. I hope it stays like that though! I see a lot of frags that have the green splotches in them from aquasd but that one is really cool looking.

NICE! Try and see if the fragments hold over time, hopefully they show both sides of the graft though.

Colors continue to hold, even the polyps seem to be color matching..

Not the best picture but thought I would give an update on this one 02-15-19. Cant see it in the pic but it has encrusted around the other side of that rock.
