Hi all,

Like many of you, I tried the gate valve mod after suffering with the stock red sea valve for a year, and while it was much better, I still had to tweak it now and then (especially after doing a water change). I needed it to be below the emergency overflow and was adjusting it every other day at least. Since the ReefMat setup makes you remove your overflow filter cups, the emergency downflow then just bypasses any filtration, which gunks up the sump.

So just for a bit of fun I built a fully automated valve that fits over the original and adjusts itself to keep the water level perfect.

Thought I’d share it in the DIY section; let me know what you think!
