Don't know if anyone has had these feelings before but I am thinking of getting out of the hobby. I am just not truly excited about it anymore. I don't even go on any of the forums anymore. Don't care what is the latest corals out. It is weird. Have not even touched the tank in a week almost. Just adding water that is it. I don't know if I am burned out with it or just bored with it right now. I just don't know.........

I think a lot of people go through this. I know I've gone through the same personal battle in the past, but I could never stay away for that long and it seems that others can't either. On a positive note, everyone who takes a break seems to come back with a rejuvenated joy for the hobby.

Ive done this aswell, Ive dropped the hobby all together. I dont care, Im staying out of it for awhile Im pretty sure.

To me this hobby is nothing but stress, I honestly dont need stress every day in my life on a coral that is literally just a piece of coral. The life of a person is more important to me than the life of a coral, no matter how rare.

I will say since Ive dropped this hobby, Ive been happier for sure, I still visit here daily, but I dont want every coral I see, I dont care. I just browse.

Good luck...

lol man we all go through this. In the eight years I've been in the hobby I go through it at least once every 1-2 years. I still don't really go on the forums all that much unless it's business related or something catches my eye, but honestly I think everyone SHOULD go through this. When you come back to it, it's a nice feeling and you end up loving all the work you dreaded before! ;)

Clowns that is how I kinda feel. My life has changed so much the part couple weeks. Becoming a different person. I think about other things then the tank. I have gotten to the point where there are things that are more important

Exactly the same thing with me. I am a diffirent person than I was when I was reefing, not going to lie, I have a better aspect on things when Im not reefing. Reefing took to much of my personal time away and now that things have changed for me, reefing isnt important to me at all anymore.

Yep

That is hard if you go full speed in this hobby I am the type of person who goes big or does not go. Was the damme way with the last hobby I had with building trucks.

I go big or go home aswell.

One thing I will say I love, photography. Pick that hobby up, less drama, its relaxing, calm, yo ucant kill a lens, its so much better.

Sadly, I just started a new 220, got ich after less than a month, and just wanna give it all up so I can focus on work and family. Still undecided...but I know the g/f would be happy if I did take it all down. haha.

Well I did it. Almost everything is gone except the led fixture that no one had bought yet. Sounds bad but I was not sad to see it all go. Was kinda nice to get everything out. Couple more small things and will have a clean shed.

I think we all go through this.
I have been through it, but always kept everything just minimum maintenance. Not sure if I can re spend the money for new dry goods. haha
Good luck with all your endeavors and keep in touch with us man, I remember when you first joined :)

Bunch of losers....

Don't encourage people to quit! LOL!

I'm the same way all or nothing but with reefing I told myself to take it slow so I don't get burned out I hope it works lol

I personally think it is all about the way you choose to reef. If anybody is getting frustrated with they hobby, I would suggest looking into a system that is more automated. Your system shouldn't make your life more stressful but it should do the exact opposite. It should be a way to relieve the stress and take your mind off of the complicated things in life.

You can always follow my husbands example. Get a whole new setup and start again. He always needs a new project, lol. I saw your post where you've gotten rid of everything. Maybe after a little break you'll start missin' it! I hope you stick around!
