So i FINALLY found some nudibranches for sale for my aiptasia outbreak. they are more expensive than i thought, i spent $200 for 5 of them. i bought a second smaller quarantine tank to put my arrow crab in for the next couple months. The only other issue is my red hawkfish. i have spent probably upwards of 7 hours over past couple days trying to catch him. its impossible. i have too many rocks in my tank, i would have to take them all out which isnt feasible.

Can someone PLEASE give me some reassurance that the hawkfish might not eat them all right away? am i just screwed? did i just toss out $200 out the window for expensive hawkfish snacks? im planning on putting in the nudi tonight, in a cave, when lights are darker.
Is there any other adivce? if i overfed my tank would he maybe leave them alone? ill double my mysis shrimp feeding would that help?
someone give me some hope.

I put 5 (2 "XL" and 3 "regular", which to be honest are all tiny) in over a month ago. I have not noticed any eggs or signs of them... some of the aptasia in the cave I put them seem to be gone, but maybe they just moved?

I have 2 clowns, a royal gramma, a clown goby, a tailspot blenny, and a YWG... plus the CUC. Not sure any of them were marked as a predator towards them, but kinda disappointed, because I expected some of them to be big enough to notice moving around the tank by now. I'm hoping the tales of them working are true, and it's not just snake oil! Best of luck to you, and if yours grow, let me know if you want to mail some! lol

Adding at night with lights off is best option if you have a fish you are worried about, as you plan. I have no specific experience with hawkish. If you have an easily removable small rock with lots of Aiptasia, you could try putting it in a bucket with an airstone and the berghia and let them lay eggs before you put the berghia in your display-then you would have backup berghia. They don’t need a heater or anything, and in a couple of months you would have more adult berghia to transfer into your display if needed.

I am assuming at that price you bought egg laying adults, so they would only need to be in the bucket a week or so.

Best time to look for them is about an hour after your lights go out-but generally you won’t see them in a display tank if they have plenty of food. They stay hidden under rocks etc as much as possible, only move far enough to find food. Usually it takes about 2 months (=generation time) before you see any significant change, unless you buy a lot of berghia or have a small tank.

how about some sort of a fish trap or partition ?...I feel your pain, I paid 40 apiece for mine over the winter...they did the trick, but my system is currently fishless...just when I was sure they were all dead, I'd see one when the lights were out...the only time I saw them on the glass in daylight were little ones (1/4 or so) when they hatched...eyedropper'd some of them and put them in the sump, now sump's clear too...yeah took at least 2 months

I put 15 in my tank 2 months ago. I think my cleanup crew had an expensive meal on me. I also have a pest tank. It’s been over run by aiptasia, so I put two in there. Surprisingly, all the aiptasia was gone in two weeks. Then, it all came back. So I guess something in there had a good meal on me too.

I have sold a few but I started a 10g with a heater and airstone and they have bred well for me. Ive shipped from Illinois to Florida and Illinois to Connecticut with success

They generally ship very well, the problem is just cost for shipping overnight is so high.
