Just wandering what the best route for good flow would be for a mixed reef. I currently have 1 gyre 150x that I plan on putting on the back. My return will give me about 1000gph split in 2 directions. My question, should I add another gyre or get an MP40 for one side to add more turbulence? I'm going to avoid Jebaos, they just don't last in my experience. If anyone has a similar sized tank, please share your thoughts with me. I'd like to have everything purchased by the time my tank arrives.

I would have personally ran 2x mp40's, but the 2x gyre150's should be enough with the return.

I already have the gyre, but I'm not opposed to 2 MP40s, just trying to save some cash if I can.

Adding a second gyre would be the best way to save money.

Why not put them on the long ended sides (width)?

It will depend on what you're planning to keep. I always go with way more flow than needed to have the option to dial it back. It's better to have to dial it down than to have too much.

Exactly.
