Anyone know where the best glass thermometer can be purchased for under $50? I want something accurate less than a degree F off tolerance.

Thanks

Tropic Marin made a good glass thermometer, but I just checked and they have TERRIBLE reviews on Amazon. It's probably been 10 years since I used one myself...

I'd probably just search Cole Palmer or some other scientific supplier.

I actually didn't know anyone still uses glass thermometers... I have one and dont think it is very accurate at all. You would be better off finding on from a LFS or from BRS that is digital. As for the +/- 1 degree of accuracy... most glass thermometers....or the one I have is in gradiants of 2 degrees.... and with my eyesight....that is +/- one hash.... ;)

I have a couple of these and they work fine. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/jbj-digi-temp2-thermometer-and-probe.html

I dont disagree. Stability all around is really important. But it is more about the way you heat your tank and being able to manage a tight range than a thermometer.

I use an apex controller along with multiple heaters all set with programming with fall backs, tight tolerances and alarms. I am able to maintain a +/- .5 degrees.... for the most part through 350 plus gallons in my two running systems with sumps in the basement and displays on the first floor. I use thermometers then to give me a quick visual reference without having to pull up the apex dashboard. The key for maintaining stable temps to me is a Good Controller. Good Programming. Good Heaters.

Of course, it is up to you. You can spend a lot of money on being able to see +/- .5 degrees....but not sure that will help you much unless you are able to manage then the way you heat your system more accurately. My two cents worth.

Good Luck!
