I want to stock my tank with predominantly black and white fish. So far I’ve decided on a group of Banggai, Convict Tang and a pair of Black ocellaris clownfish.

I really love the contrasting colours of these fish and want the corals to stand out rather than the fish.

Tanks going to be 72x30x24 (850l) with a 72x24x24 (600l when full) sump. Currently I have corals and clean up crew and a group of 8 x Sailfin Mollys (best cuc I’ve ever known!) in a 430l system but the plan is to move everything over and then slowly stock the tank with more fish.

Im looking for suggestions for fish, as reef safe with corals as possible. But also not likely to eat Cleaner, Peppermint or Harlequin shrimp or the regular snail based cleanup crew.

Marine Betta would be awesome, but not sure if they be safe with the shrimp and as much as I think Domino Damsel are stunning but I’ve not decided if they worth the aggression aggravation even in a big tank or on being attacked everytime my hands in the tank! Lol

Would love more utilitarian fish like wrasse, tangs, algae Blenny etc Any ideas!?

black leopard wrasse, yellow tail wrasse, scopas tang, gem tang

could give a moorish idol a try but they are hard to take care of

some heniochus butterflies can work in a reef tank

You sure you want the shrimp?

Serious suggestion is a Lamarks Angelfish one of the few truly reef safe angels.

Also:
harlequin bass
coral catfish
engineer goby
black sailfin blenny
Striped dottyback

Don't know how safe the first two are with shrimp and the dottyback is a dottyback

a few of the top of my head (some have a little bit of color):
Three stripe damsel
Black and white chromis
Panther grouper
Banded pipefish
Valentini Puffer
Map Puffer
Guineafowl puffer
Black Boxfish
Clown Trigger
Black clown goby
Panda goby
Tiger goby
White/Smith’s Blenny
Kamohara fang blenny
Black tang
Wrought iron butterflyfish
Banded butterflyfish
Scissortail Sergeant
Black voitan lionfish

Surprised I didn’t see a Lamarck angel (totally reef safe)

Following (My recommendations will come soon)

I know it was already listed, but a gem tang has to be at the top of the list, right? Also, a school of convict tangs (instead of one) would be pretty dang sweet.

Here’s another suggestion.

Striped Blenny (has a tiny bit of yellow on its face), but they are so cute.
