Brittle starfish

So I bought a brittle starfish and 5 hermits, the next day I see one of the new hermits floating around and the only suspect in the tank is the brittle. Should I be worried about him taking out my shrimps? From what I read they are supposed to be reef safe. Ideas? Thanks
