Can I have any tangs?

Naturally, the hot tub will have the appropriate flow for the donkey. For the meantime, leaving the showerhead runnig will have to do.

I was told by a few mates who have marine tanks that I could have smaller tangs like a single tomini tang or a bristletooth tang. Is this possible or can I not have any of those real nice fish in my tank?

A Bristle tooth tang should work for you.

As stated previously, I would look at a dwarf angel or certain wrasses as centerpiece fish.

I've only read your initial posts and replies but would also like to thank you for being receptive to ideas and not having the "I'm putting a tang in this fish bowl, tell me I'm right" approach.

Here is what I would do if I were prioritizing a centerpiece fish over corals: 1) pick dream fish, 2) introduce dream fish, 3) prep yourself for coral losses, 4) trial and error different corals to see what works with dream fish. My list of super nice centerpiece angels, ignoring price, for your tank would be:

Golden Angelfish - I think they look great, although I like the goldflake slightly more (but req big tank)

Multibar Angelfish - I think these also look amazing, and places like Biota (not sure if available where you are) state that theirs are less likely to be coral pickers; pushing it a bit size-wise, though, but length helps here.

Coral Beauty - Same as multibar with respect to tank size: might be pushing it a bit

Here is what I would do if my corals were just as important as my fish: go wrasses! All of these:
1. Black leopard wrasse (Macropharyngodon negrosensis) and/or Blue star leopard wrasse (M. bipartitus)
2. Radiant wrasse (Halichoeres iridis)
3. Rhomboid fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis)
4. Splendid fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus isosceles)
5. Blue or linespot flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus cyaneus or P. lineopunctatus)
6. Royal or Diamondtail flasher wrasse (P. angulatus or P. attenuatus)
You'll have a very active and amazing display of bright, flashy wrasses.

I decided not to put a tang in my 83 gal display. Yellow and Bristletooths were in the running, but ultimately decided long-run, would be better to stick to other types of fish.

Why? I dunno, but it's because someone did it successfully once.

I think the discussion here is that just because it has been done doesn't mean it should be done. A couple of success stories doesn't make it a good norm to follow.

I for one will not keep a donkey in my bathtub.

Thank you so much for that I really appreciate it! I will definitely look into them although I’d like to keep my corals haha so anything that does well with softies and LPS, at the moment I have an Australophyllia Wilsoni, an Acan, a Duncan, a mini Zoa garden, a Favia and some firework polyps.

Alright, I'll drop my .02 into this mine field.

I used to have a 90g, I purchased a juvenile yellow tang and kept him until I felt that he was too large for the tank. I also rehabbed a very thin PBT in the same tank while I had the YT. Once he was fat, I believe I gave him away to someone with a larger tank. I felt bad having him in there because those boys love to swim but I know that I was giving him something better than the alternative.

There are a lot of factors at play while keeping tangs that really add a lot of noise to the conversation. One thing you have to remember is that some species are swimming miles per day in the wild.

If you're really in doubt or torn up over it, just don't keep one, as useful as they are.

Okay sounds good, thank you for that! What other fish should I get, I’m wanting a yellow coral goby, longnose hawkfish and pair of banggai cardinalfish would that be the cap?

Depends on the type of coral you want to keep as well.

But I really like Pygmy Angelfish

A hawk with a tiny coral goby is a little risky. Hawks will often eat small tankmates.

Flow seems to be lacking. I'd wager that's a big part of any coral problem you might be having.

Most will say a minimum 75 gal 4ft for a Cole, yellow tang. Someone made a well known list of the min tank sizes for tangs and that’s pretty much been the standard. Of course it’s all speculation but 55 is borderline if it’s a 4ft. Aggression is also a concern the smaller you go with tangs

I have a Coral Beauty dwarf Angel (120 gallons) and so far he has not messed with any corals. I think some of your large tangs would be ok for a bit but would need a new home as they grew.

Ok here goes rarely do I interject in these discussions but alrighty then...
I rescued a yellow.
Bad HLLE, no tail fin.
Paid $20 to take him home
Probably the size of a half dollar.
Put him in a 29 gallon
He was in there about 2 years, got noticeably better.
Moved him to a 75 where he lived with 2 other fish for about 6 years.

Oh there he is!
He's in a 100, 5 foot tank now and this is as happy and healthy as he's/she's ever been.
I have 2 fish in that tank.
I'm not going to slam advice but in 40 years of keeping saltwater fish, I've only EVER kept one tang in a tank, no matter what size.
I also go with 1 fish per FOOT of tank.
But, I'm a weirdo as we all know.
Good luck and thanks for the questions since I now know more about donkeys than I ever did before.
