Hello. I was replacing the filter floss in my filter a few minutes ago and stupidly had my hand in the water with no gloves on (I'll get gloves soon) and a copper ring on. I realized that that was bad after few seconds so I immediately took my hand out. In that time, would enough copper have leached out to be concerning? The ring is pure copper, and my tank is 5.5 gallons. I only have two trochus snails in it currently, so I don't have to worry about any expensive coral or other inverts dying, but I don't want my snails to die. If copper probably leached out, what should I do? I am already running carbon.

Very low exposure. . agree with P-dub. Now dropping a penny in there for 2-3 months. . . a whole different story

I agree it should be OK. That's a very small tank, so any concern is much greater than a big tank, but still the rate of dissolution is going to be slow enough that it isn't an issue. In the old days, there were stories of some folks killing aiptasia by sticking a copper wire into them for a short period of time, and the tanks were not wiped out.

Hmm hook that up to a 12v battery and you might have a new product for Aiptasia removal.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
