So I don't have the money right now to get a "fancy" controller. It is gonna start getting hot again down here in Florida. I want to get a temp controller so it can turn my fans on in the stand. Is there a controller that I can get at a decent price just to turn my fans on and off? Maybe even turn my heater off and on.

Thats a hard one. You can get a $30-50 controller for the heater, but as for turning the fan on/off, you might be stuck with getting a controller. I can't think of anything offhand that would do the opposite of a heater controller. Keep an eye on this site and RC for an AquaController Jr, you can get them for around $150 used, and it should come with everything you need to do this....plus a lot more.

I think your best bet would be looking for a used reefkeeper light. They can tell when things are two hot and turn off lights and such while also turning on a fan.

I have my controller set to turn on a fan that blows across my sump in the summer. When temp is great then 81, it'll turn on the fan. My tank will literally drop 2 degrees within an hour ot turning on the fan. This of course is through my Apex, but an AquaController Jr will do the same thing, as any controller should do. Just find a cheap used one and run with it.

May i ask what type of lighting you are using and how many gallons the main display is?

Tank is ac46 gallon and the lighting is a 6 bulb tek light. Problem is I had to move back in with my parents a year ago after loosing my job. Got a new job after 7 months unemployed make half of what I use to make. Well my room is at the end of the duct system so my room always stays hotter. Somewhere between 78-80 curbing the day. Last summer I lost about half the tank. I have replaced alot of stuff and do not want to do it again.

After all the money we put into our tanks I think if you are worried about the coming weather you should really look for a controller and try to find the money.
It's better then starting over from a crash.

What about the possibility of putting in a window AC in the room?
Maybe you can find one of those cheaper as a "band-aid" fix for now.

You could always just run the fan all the time, and just have the heater heat when its too cold. This would probably be your cheapest and easiest solution.

Yea just flip it off at night there would most Likly be a temp drop at night or the heater onthe hole to
E meaning more of a elc bill.

Yup, that unit should work fine for you. You'll start out with only 4 programmable outlets and could add more down the road if you needed.

Thats what i usse on my frag tank it will work wonder also able to run your lights.

the reefkeeper lite is an awesome little controller it does a great job getting hte job done. The nice thing about it is that you can easily expand it to do more. I have it for your reason to control fans and my lights. I am looking at getting the ph probe part and some of the other things in the near future i highly recommend the reefkeeper lite.

if you dont have the money to get a computer, get the fans and have them blow non stop, just dont take your heater out of your tank, have it set at were you want the temp in your tank to be and if the fans make it cooler then that the heater will turn on

my bad lol i i get tired of reading the whole posting and just give my answer to the problem

Like i said though if you leave it on non stop at night it will lower the temp and your heater will need to fight it.
