Corelline Algae Removal

I've got a 35G mixed reef tank with pretty good Corelline Algae growth, but I want to keep it to only the back glass and one side, so I need to scrape a good amount off one other side. Doesn't seem right to simply scrape it and let it go into the water column, and thinking to try and scrape and suck it out at the same time (MUCH easier said than done tho).

Any thoughts? I've attached a pic.

I just scrape it off and my Desjardini Sailfin tang eats it up. Don't know if it good for him, but he loves it.

yup scrape it. Itll settle and seed the places you want it. keep up on the glass cleaning where you dont want it.

How did this happen? Is not cleaning the glass part of the husbandry regime?

Thanks reeferfoxx. My understanding is that coralline algae is a good thing to have growing on your tank, and there are those who seem to say the more the merrier as it helps ****** growth of other unwanted algae.

But I've decided that I don't want this much of the coralline algae on this visible side of the tank, and my question is when I scrape it off with a razor knife as I have done in the past will this much algae being scraped foul the water column.

As you've said, coralline algae is beneficial. I don't see how it could be detrimental in any form. Actually, i'm pretty jealous of your growth. Astrina stars have eatin nearly 70% of all my coralline. Just scrape it and let it spread. :)
