I have a large number of sponges in my aquarium, a mustard yellow one that grows up my euphyllias stalks but does not interfere with their heads, a brown one that looks awful but is easily outcompeted, a thick white one that only lives in dark areas... then there's this black one, which looks dark grey under certain lights, or even purple with the orange lenses on. It is highly aggressive, fast growing and smothers zoas or slower growing corals. It has completely taken over a 10" x 10" area of my 180 tank and only the Bubble coral holds it at bay, even the red mushrooms growing there seem off and I suspect are in warfare with it. It is all over the supporting base rockwork, I cannot remove these rocks without dismantling the tank.
If anyone has tips to kill or at least stunt this slowly expanding menace I'd greatly appreciate it.
