nice. any issues with the turbos running over corals/knocking the off ?

Yep lol, the conch is worse, its about 5 inches, anything in the sand bed usually gets bulldozed, but they both do a great job so, i live with it. :rolleyes:

How soon do you recommend adding a CUC to a new tank? do you wait for the tank to fully cycle? I've heard mixed feelings.

You don't add anything until the tank is fully cycled with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite. Also in the beginning go with a small amount of CUC. Unless you have wild live rock with growth there won't be much for them to eat. Then as time goes on and tank matures add as needed.

thats what i thought. i had a handful of people telling me they added theirs a couple weeks after getting the tank wet.

i just got the tank wet on Saturday. Added dry sand and "reel reef rock" to it. no plans to add live stock for quite a while, i just wanted to clarify based on what i heard. didnt think there was anything beneficial from adding them early.

Well just to clarify... I did fully cycle my current tank in about two weeks and starting adding some things but I used some live sand, some live rock and a bacterial cycling product. I used Bacter Gen-M and there are plenty of other products around.

yeah, my LFS gave me this little glass vile for the beneficial bacteria start up, cant remember the brand, i believe it was from France or Italy and its the only stuff he has used on his tanks.

This stuff will help speed up the process; the process being the growth of beneficial bacteria (cycling), but the tank itself will still need to cycle. I use bottled bacteria, but purely for supplemental purposes. I've personally never used it on a brand new tank and immediately added fish, and I wouldn't recommend it either, but to each their own.

Yeah I did that on my first tank a year ago. Ended up with all kinds of issues. My current tank and my new tank both are being cycled properly :)
