Water changes water changes water changes. Oh yeah and some GFO. Sounds like some phosphates accumulated in the sandbed. Get the nutrients under control, and the cyano should go away on its own.

ahh this triggers a memory on a whem trying to save money on this project i boust 60lbs of live sand from a lfs that had just took down a tank do u think i could have gotten this problem from the used sand. also i have a 75 ran into the system that has had issues in the past with red slime but it had never made it to the dt and i tracked that prob down to lack of flow the 75 holds a dawrf lion and a violtens lion and ive started growning calurpa as well try to use as sort of a fug. and should i try sifting the sand as much as possible through the next couple water changes i try not to it seems like to much would kill aot of critters

Siphoning the sand will help. The sand could have already been loaded with phosphates when you got it, and the problem was just "sleeping" until now. If it's too bad you could put some erythromycin in to kill the cyano, but I always like to treat the cause of the problem not the symptom.

For now. Phosphates are definitely present, and corals don't like phosphates. especially SPS.
