im supposed to be picking up some dry live rock today..just curious if i should be cautious of sticking it in my running aquarium. i would "cook" the rock but dont have the assets and i live in a small apartment..

ive added small amounts with no problems. depends how much dead organic stuff is in the rock. is there a reason why you are wanting more rock?

Just make sure you rinse it good in case there is any dried up debris and dead stuff in the holes. I am in the process of adding dead previously live rock I got from someone. There is probably a couple hundred pounds. I add like 3 or 4 pieces ever 2-4 weeks. How long has your rock been dead?

red- i have a 34g solana, i have 16 pounds in it now and it just doesnt look full enough to me...paul- i have no idea how long yet, i will get in touch with the guy later and ask him...would it be cool to scrub the pieces with a toothbrush?

nolen, that is actually what I did. I scrubbed it with a small brush and kept rinsing it to make sure I got everything off I could. The rock I got had actually been sitting for about 3 or 4 years in this guys garage in cardboard boxes. How much do you plan on adding?
