Hey, I've been following your thread with great interest (Emperor Palpatine voice). I had a quick question regarding your pumps you used, specifically the gyres. I have a Reefer 250 as well, I can't turn my XF330's past 30% without my hammer and torch getting upset, and at 50% I blew one of my LPS across to the other side of the tank.

You programmed yours for 60% for some tidal movement and I am wondering how you did it lol. You have similar corals, were they not bothered by the huge flow?

Does your rockscape have something to do with it or what direction you pointed the gyres? Mine are set up exactly as yours were in terms of position...

Thanks!

Thanks for following along! My first guess is that the 330's are more powerful than the 230's, also I ran a pretty quick pulse the objective was to create the standing wave in the tank! I also had the pumps pointed towards the surface, not all the way towards the surface, just enough that it wouldn't push water up and make a splash!

I have the exact settings I used listed on my website pelphrey.net on the left click Gyre settings!

Thanks! Yeah I checked your settings, but they make me nervous haha! Maybe I'll try to get a good current like yours going at 40% and see what happens. I don't think the 330's are more powerful, the GPH is almost the same, but who knows as I am not sure the posted GPH's are that accurate.

I'll try a few things and see what happens, maybe pointing the gyres up more will help AND maybe taking the flow directors on the 330's off so the flow isn't so concentrated....

Thanks!
