Yeah the plumbing is done 100 percent ready for some substrate and rocks..... Let's get this party started!!!!!! Also get to sleep tonight lol...man I'm very impressed with it came out better than I ever imagined...$350 worth of PVC and a full can of glue were done and it's super clean in person my plumbing holds over 5gal water on this little beast!!!!!

so next time i need a tank plumbed i can fly you in to do it. that thing is nice.
that was truely a work of art
only thing i would have done differently was to use gate valves where the ball valves are. after a while the become hard to turn.

umm there is unions every where it comes out pretty easy the pics are really hard to see everything but I have a ton of space left over althou it looks jammed packed by the pics.....;) man ole man I think I got about 14hrs into the plumbing total more than building the tank or anything else lol....

If you have room for the newer baldor dart, I think you'd be happy with it as well. I started out with an A.O. Smith motor pump, and switched it out a year ago with a baldor Dart pump. Made a world of difference flow-wise, even though they are the same pumps.
The ATBs are slick pumps, as well, though - can't lose either way!

Yeah I agree I wanted to but i was already cringing when the PVC came out to $350 it would have been another $100 to make them all gate valves..... I love doing that kind of stuff lol.... The harder the challenge the more I get into it.... As for me flying nah sorry dude I hate planes haha....:tongue: btw mixing salt water now and mentally preparing for the toughest challenge the aquascape....:cry:

Yeah I could tell there was a difference I have owned a few baldor darts in my days.... I fired this one up last night and noticed it didn't have as much torque but honestly should do the job with the ocean motions I got 1800gph at any return at any given time vs 900gph coming out of all 4 at once... Really happy I made that last second decision and bought the 4way..... Time to get it get stocked and see what it can really do....1smile1

Yeah I got vortecs sitting here and thought long and hard about it but I have a signature nem being placed in this tank and some fancy clowns so I didn't want to risk losing any fish man.... Besides this was my first cl I had to try it just to see if I was missing anything....
My goals with this tank was no wires no pumps, no frag plugs, just super clean, easy and functional....

I have an MP40W in my 120 along with the closed loop, just to keep enough flow going, along with a couple other cheapie powerheads. With the colonies growing out, I've had to adjust and move them a bit, but I think the CL has provided a great source of randomness.
I did have to put some pool drains on the intakes, though, as I lost a 6" foxface and a 3" hippo when they got sucked up to one of the intakes. That only happened after I put the baldor pump in place. It was just that much more powerful (but 100 times quieter).
Both schools of thought have their advantages/disadvantages. I think with the nem, you'll be happier with the CL for sure.

Yeah I got some floor drains Im using for the drain a nice big one.... It should be safe that was another goal of mine... I'm pretty sure the dart will be replaced by a flow star maybe a 4300 gph one after it's up and running.... Hard to say right now it might be over kill for all I know lol.... I got close to 6000 gph right now turn over rate in a 70 gal cube haha....

Sounds about right - I'm pushing close to 11000gph in my 120, and will eventually bump that up to 16000 with a couple more MP40s. Can't have too much flow, IMO. Until I shoot a fish through the side of my tank, I'll keep adding flow. ;)

Here is a couple shots of the cl from inside and the drain....Nothing is glued so I can turn them to adjust etc... Just gotta spray foam the 45's so they blend with the rocks...

I wish I could have done my intakes lower in my tank, but it was already drilled up top, so I went with it.
You think one intake will be enough? Or do you have another somewhere? What size is it? Cavitation was a big concern for me, so I went with 2 1 1/2" intakes.

couldn't agree any more bro.... I have around 20k on my current display that's 200gal.... I always aim for at least 100 times turn o er if possible.... Flow is just as important as lighting if not more when it comes to colors etc.... Actually IMHO flow is down right the most important aspect of a reef tank the better the flow the healthier a tank you got the better the skimmer works the better the colors the better the growth patterns and the happier your sps will be and so on and so on lol....
