I picked up an orange storm clownfish I've been wanting for a while. I also went grocery shopping with my girlfriend and we picked up two containers of 2 for $5 strawberries. My clownfish has always been a model citizen, even to her previous boyfriend, but I didn't want to take any chances. I was prepared to drill holes in a plastic container with a lid to utilize it as an acclimation box. But when looking at the strawberry container... It already had everything I wanted. I gave it a good rinsing, and stuck it to the side of my aquarium with a mag-float algae cleaner. My old female is able to see her new boy toy and the box has great flow through it. I don't even need to target feed, food just gets swept into the box. It's two days in, and I've noticed no adverse effects. It seems to be a simple solution and an always available acclimation box that you can get rid of afterwards with no strings attached. Has this been discussed before? My girlfriend and I fist bumped after. We were very proud of our ingenuity!

That's pretty ingenious, I have to say.

I've basically always got one of these floating around the fridge, WAY better than cutting or drilling into a re-usable plastic take-out container or similar... much less buying one just for the purpose.

Lid closed, fully submerged and everything. Absolute genuis.
It works great for the task! IMO I'll never go back to a regular acclimation box (gave all of my gear away when I moved). You're telling me for essentially $2.50 I get an acclimation box AND two pounds of strawberries?! Deal.

This is very smart, but honestly the most unbelievable part of the story is 2 for $5 Strawberries??? They're like $8 for a box here!
If there's one thing Seattle is known for.. it's (not) very affordable prices! We didn't have strawberries on the grocery list but 2 for $5 was impossible to pass on :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: They're normally around $8 a box here too.

I lived there for 3 years. I was prepared for a higher cost of living, but the cost of groceries was mind-boggling compared to Atlanta. Even shopping just for myself, for just a week or so (while planning to eat out a few of those days) I had to make a game of getting out of the store for less than $100 - I don't think I ever succeeded, and that was 2008 - 2011.
