That's why I used the teensy, it is 3.3v, but inputs can tolerate 5v, so it will work as is in a 5v circuit.

I didn't know that (want to be careful since this is a TANK LIFE Sustating ATO).
But Good to know that 3.3 can handle (5v).
ARE YOU 100% sure!!

Got this off of Ardiuno web site.

  • Warning: Unlike most Arduino & Genuino boards, the Zero runs at 3.3V. The maximum voltage that the I/O pins can tolerate is 3.3V. Applying voltages higher than 3.3V to any I/O pin could damage the board.

Resistors could solve that anyway on the INPUTS.

Another reason for wanting 5V is with Sensors on long wires, the extra distance=resistance so a voltage drop is worse on 3.3 vs 5V setup.

Also I still have an issue on 3.3V OUTPUTS since I put just-the-right resistors on my LEDs (on output pins) for the brightness I wanted.
So...In general it would be rework on some things. Nothing I'm interested after a few weeks or hard work. It's done. Things are tight in there, and I glue gunned all jumpers into place.

I will be building a clone, and I'll think about which board is best.
Something like a Zero on Teenzy on 3.3V doesn't give you 5Volt regulated off USB

Lots of great ideas here, I hope the builds are progressing. Keep us posted,
Hi there.
I look a peek at your reef-pi site.
Nice work you have going there.
Took a peek at your foundation toolset GO and REACT. Both interesting.
You also have Two nice nano tanks coming along.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?

  • I currently use a HOB filter on my reef tank.

  • I don’t currently use a HOB filter on my reef tank, but I have in the past.

  • I have used a HOB on fish only or quarantine tanks, but not on the display tank.
