Hey all! I had a question regarding my 125 Gallon reef tank! Originally this tank was a fowlr and I ran two large HOB filters. I want to convert this tank into a reef tank. Would the 2 HOB filters work? A canister or would i ultimately need to get a sump? I plan on keeping all types of corals! I would end up adding wave makers and all that maybe a hang on skimmer as well. But would what be my easiest route? I don’t really have the room for a sump either 🤣. Thanks all!

A sump is not necessary at all for a reef tank. People run reef tanks on hob filters, it can be done.

The only real difference between a fish only tank and a reef tank is the light and the need to test more often and keep stable parameters.

Start with the light, add flow, then get good quality test kits (if you don't have them already), then get some corals 🙂
