Hey everyone, my tank is a redsea 350 91G total volume , im newer to the auto dosing world. My alk calcium and mag where low after doing water changes so i started dosing, my alk was around 5.8DKH i successfully raised it to 7.2DKH,
My calcium started dropping alot when i dosing alk from 440 down to 410 i started dosing equal parts to alk and raised it to 470, my magnesium is dropping like a rock it was at 1233, ive been dosing 40ml a day of Mag redsea C for the past week and now my Mag levels have dropped down to 1217. I turned off the dosing for now till i figure out whats going on.... my tank is mainly LPS dominate with 6 hammer frags a frog spawn not really much else, my kaeto has been growing extreamly fast not sure if maybe this is sucking the mag out. my salinity has stayed pretty consistent at 0.25 any input would be greatly appreciated

Magnesium never drops like a rock unless salinity declines. At most it drops about 1/10th of the calcium drop that happens at the same time.

I’d look to test error, or a salinity change.

Hanna mag checkers are highly inaccurate. I’d suggest salifert

Hanna alk, nitrate and phos are good to go though. I’ve tried to mag checkers both from Hanna n they were off for me

Omg what is happening on this app lol ill grab one of tbose salfate testers instead thanks for the suggestion!

It takes a lot of product at first.
That surprised me.

If your good with your results….Keep dosing towards your goal.
